evensong wishlist

From time to time I’ve made a wishlist of pieces I’d like to sing on a Cathedral visit. Time to revisit this and make a new list. Either I’ve never sung these, or not for a very long time, and I’d like to do them. If your choir is doing any of them on a Cathedral weekend and you need a soprano, feel free to get in touch!

Philip Moore, Third Service
Mundy, Evening Canticles ‘in medio chori’
Tippett, St John’s Service
Smart, Evening Canticles in G
Amner, ‘Caesar’ service
any setting of the alternative canticles Cantate Domino and Deus misereatur (although Purcell’s would be especially welcome) as I have never sung these in a service!

Purcell, O Lord God of Hosts – actually any of Purcell’s large-scale verse anthems, which seem very out of favour these days
Michael Wise, The ways of Zion do mourn
Wesley, The Wilderness  and Praise the Lord O my Soul
Alan Gray, What are these that glow from afar?

for Christmas:
Byrd, This day Christ was born
Judith Weir, Illuminare Jerusalem
