About

This blog is about my singing and musical life, mostly in South West England. It contains concert/opera reviews, accounts of some performances I have taken part in (many of these are services sung in Cathedrals by visiting choirs) and articles on other miscellaneous musical topics.

I don’t write reviews of performances I’ve taken part in, or critical comments about choirs and organisations I’m currently connected with. There is a considerable amount of other self-censorship on these pages – if you want to hear about some of what I withhold, you will have to speak to me in person over a meal or a drink! I am trying to record here the interesting opportunities and extensive repertoire I experience, and leave out the repetitive or dull bits, without wanting to sound like an agent.

N.B. I can take up to a month or so to write about a particular event, as I like to reflect on what I want to record about it, also I can get busy! So my entry about it may appear on a different month page from the month in which it took place.

Perhaps the post that best sums me up is this one; writing about works you dislike tends to be more revealing than writing about your favourites.

Any chance of enabling RSS feeds on this site? Then we can keep an eye on it!

    Cheers

    Greetings.
The melody you wanted to know about: it’s from the animated film The Snowman. This particular excerpt is from a dance when all the snowmen gather at The North Pole.

I am rather hijacking a thread here, but I see in searching that the discussion regarding Bath Camerata had closed. Long ago and far away, 1988, I sang with Bath
Camerata on a trip to Tours for a choral competition/festival. I know Nigel and Pauline Perrin divorced some years ago, but does anyone know where Pauline ended up? I’d love to contact her and say hello.
