do I want to post a slug?

I am offered the chance to do this in the margin as I compose this. Much as I dislike slugs (and we certainly have too many of them) I don’t think I’d want to do this to anyone! I suppose I’d better have a look at the WordPress documentation.

    I think this usage of slug comes from newspapers, and refers to a short extract from the article. Probably something to do with a “slug of lead” from the days of hot-metal typesetting.

    The other meaning of ‘slug’ I can think of is a bullet – again not something I want to send to someone!
